Ben-Ner Art Show Tree House
Guy Ben-Ner, Treehouse Kit, 2005
Treehouse Kit consists of a large wooden tree created from recombined generic furniture (chairs, table, bed etc.). The sculpture is presented along with an instructional style video in which Ben-Ner (in swimtrunks and a huge beard, a cross between Robinson Crusoe and a squatter) converts the pre-fab tree back into a rudimentary home.
MAKE blog featured a little piece on my own treehouse:
David writes - "Saw the satellite dish gazebo and thought you'd like my treehouse with dish roof. We built this treehouse entirely from recycled materials, including the 10 foot diameter fibreglass dish as a dome roof. The cool, and unexpected, benefit of this design is that the bed is below the dish, and our heads are near the focal point, so that sounds from the forest floor below and lake shore are amplified. It creates an eerie sound field around our bed that seems like water is lapping at the edges of the blankets and squirrels are running around our heads! " - Link.
